Cleansing Operative (Scale 3)

Ashton Recruitment requires a Cleansing Operative for our client Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council.

Position: Cleansing Operative

Location: Lisburn

Duration: Temporary Contract

Rate of Pay: £12.59 per hour

Hours: 37 hours per week

Duties will include (but not be limited to):

• To advise, direct and assist members of the public with the segregation and disposal of recyclable materials both non-hazardous and hazardous in nature and in doing so deliver high levels of customer care and promote recycling initiatives.
• Carry out a full range of duties within the general cleansing service to include litter picking, manual sweeping and collection, removal and disposal of litter/dirt/leaves etc. from public places such as roads, pavements and open spaces.
• Carry out a full range of duties within the general refuse collection service to include collection / removal of household and commercial waste, bulky amenity collections, removal of illegal / indiscriminate dumping waste and collection / disposal of dead and fallen animals. Ensure all duties/day’s tasks are carried out according to schedules and at appropriate times.

Desirable Criteria:

• be able to demonstrate on the application form, by providing personal and specific examples, at least one year’s relevant experience in each of the following:

1. a) working in a similar capacity within a waste management environment; and
2. b) providing advice and guidance to customers on a daily basis in a face-to-face environment,
