Maintenance Operative

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of general repairs, basic trades work, and day-to-day maintenance tasks. You’ll support skilled tradesmen while also working independently on smaller repairs, ensuring each site is safe, functional, and well-maintained.

With a temporary to permanent pathway and steady Monday-Friday daytime hours, this role offers stability, routine and the chance to build long-term experience in the maintenance and facilities field.

Position Details

• Role: Maintenance Operative
• Location: Belfast
• Rate: £14.50 per hour
• Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm
• On Call: 1 week every 12 weeks (with on-call payment)
• Contract: Temp to Perm
• Benefits: Company van + fuel card

What You’ll Be Doing

• Carrying out general repairs & maintenance (doors, fittings, fixtures, basic carpentry)
• Assisting tradesmen with plumbing & electrical tasks
• Basic decorating (painting, sanding, filling)
• Site preparation, clean-up, and general labouring duties
• Minor plumbing tasks (replacing taps, resealing baths, etc.)
• Minor electrical assistance (changing fittings, switches, etc.)
• Keeping tools, equipment and materials organised
• Communicating with clients and reporting issues to supervisors

Essential Criteria

• Full, clean UK driving licence
• Confident using tools and carrying out hands-on tasks
• Proactive, can-do attitude
• Reliable, punctual and hardworking
• Able to work independently or as part of a team
• Experience in a similar role is beneficial but not essential
