Quantity Surveyor

Ashton Recruitment require a Quantity Surveyor for our busy client based in Antrim.

Position: Quantity Surveyor

Location: Antrim

Duration: Permanent

Rate of Pay: £40,000-£60,000

Hours of Work: Monday – Friday 08:00-16:00

Duties include (but not limited to):

  1. Prepare, negotiate, and assess costs for tenders and contracts.
  2. Acquire sub-contractors and compile sub-contractor order documentation.
  3. Oversee and evaluate variations.
  4. Aid in generating pre-contract take-off, interim valuations, and final accounts.
  5. Generate monthly Cost Value Reconciliation reports for contracts.
  6. Assist the Capital Projects Manager and Projects Director in overseeing projects’ logistical, technical, and commercial aspects to align with overall business goals.
  7. Support in formulating and monitoring operational and capital annual budgets.
  8. Contribute to the ongoing development and revision of the client’s Long Term Business Plan.
  9. Assist the project team in procuring, delivering, and completing projects to achieve desired business outcomes.
  10. Promote and uphold a culture of exemplary health, safety, and environmental standards across projects and associated contractors.
  11. Identify and address risks that could impede project delivery or impact the client’s operations throughout the project lifecycle.
  12. Positively engage with key stakeholders, both internal and external, involved in projects.
  13. Actively participate in the lessons learned process across all projects and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  14. Flexibility to accommodate any after-hours activities as needed.

Essential Criteria:

  • Completion of an HND or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline, coupled with demonstrated expertise in Quantity Surveying.
  • Possession of a valid full driving license.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in a Quantity Surveying role.
  • Profound understanding of compliance standards and adeptness in achieving regulatory requirements.
  • Extensive experience in overseeing cost control throughout construction projects.
  • Demonstrated capability in supervisory and people management, including performance evaluation and professional development.
  • Track record of effectively managing contractors and consultants.
  • Experience in budget management and allocation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrating a professional demeanor.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Displaying confidence in interactions.
  • Willingness to work beyond regular working hours as needed.

  • Construction related degree

  • Experience within an airport environment
