When working with an agency, agency workers are on a Contract for
Services not a Contract of Employment.

A Contract for Services is the agreement between an agency and an agency worker that sets out the terms under which the worker provides their services to the agency’s client.
In simple terms — it’s the employment agreement for temps, but with a
key difference; The worker is not employed by the client directly & the agency engages the worker to carry out work for the client.

Once on assignment all candidates are paid every Friday one week in arrears, this means you are paid one week after you’ve worked the hours. Once you have completed your weeks work, your Supervisor/ Manager will submit your timesheet no later than the following Wednesday meaning you will then be paid the following Friday for the hours you have worked.

This means services to be performed by the Agency Worker (you) for the Hirer (the client) for a period of time during which the Agency Worker is supplied by Ashton Recruitment to work temporarily for and under the supervision and direction of the client.

Yes – as an agency worker you are entitled to holiday pay. This is accrued throughout the year based on the total number of hours you work per week. Agency workers will accrue holiday pay at 12.07% of their hourly pay rate. This ensures you will receive a minimum of 28 days annual leave when working full time. Your holiday year runs from April to March each year, agency workers must ensure they take rest periods in order to request their holiday pay in line with working time regulations.

Yes – We have multiple business partners that can offer pick your own days for flexibility. This is all done through our temporary worker booking app – Ubeya. All temporary positions are posted weekly/ daily on the booking app & you can apply for work that you are available for.

For Employers

Why would I want to work with an agency?

Working with a recruitment agency isn’t just about filling roles — it’s about saving time, strengthening your team, and managing costs more effectively.

To save you time on hiring, we take care of everything from advertising and screening to onboarding, allowing your team to stay focused on running the business rather than managing recruitment.

To ensure you have the right people in the right positions we provide access to a ready pool of pre-vetted candidates and ensure the people we place are reliable, compliant, and suited to your environment — reducing disruption and improving performance.

& while agency rates include more than just pay, they remove the hidden costs of hiring such as advertising, payroll, compliance, and the risk of a bad hire. They also give you the flexibility to scale your workforce up or down as needed, helping you stay in control of spend.

Ultimately, working with an agency means you’re not just filling positions, you’re gaining a partner who helps you plan ahead, reduce risk, and keep your operations running smoothly.

At Ashton Recruitment, we offer a full range of staffing solutions to support your business at every stage. This includes temporary staffing for short-term and flexible workforce needs, temp-to-perm options allowing you to trial workers before making a permanent hire, and permanent recruitment for more specialist roles. We also support clients with workforce planning, salary benchmarking, and market insight to help you make informed hiring decisions. Our service is built around reliability, compliance, and partnership — ensuring you have the right people in your team to keep your business running effectively.

At Ashton Recruitment, finding the right people starts with understanding your business — not just the job description. We take the time to learn your operations, team environment, and what good looks like for you, so we can match candidates who will genuinely fit and perform. Using a combination of targeted advertising, our existing candidate network, and proactive search, we identify suitable candidates and carry out thorough screening. Throughout the process, we focus on quality, reliability, and long-term fit — ensuring the people we place can add value from day one and integrate seamlessly into your team.

This depends on the role, requirements, and notice given, however for many temporary positions we can often provide suitable candidates at short notice — including same-day or next-day cover where required. For more specialist or permanent roles, timelines can vary, but we focus on delivering quality candidates as efficiently as possible. By understanding your requirements from the outset and utilising our existing candidate network alongside proactive sourcing, we aim to minimise downtime and ensure your roles are filled quickly and effectively.

You’re not tied to working exclusively with one agency unless you choose to. If you prefer, you can enter into an exclusivity agreement — but it’s entirely your decision.
Before we start working together, you’ll simply be asked to sign our Terms of Business, which outline how we’ll partner with you and the standards you can expect from us. This ensures full transparency while keeping you free to work with other agencies if you wish.

We pride ourselves on having no hidden fees in the services we offer.

Temporary Placements: Charged at an hourly rate based on the total number of hours the candidate works for you, plus VAT.

Permanent Placements: Charged as a percentage of the candidate’s
annual salary, plus VAT.

We believe in transparency, so you know exactly what to expect when working with us.

Agency Workers are supplied by the Employment Business to provide services to the Hirer therefore we cover all compliance checks. We’ll manage Right to Work Checks, AWR, Licence & Qualification Checks, PAYE Deductions & Background Checks if required.

The Agency Workers Regulations (AWR) require that agency workers receive the same basic pay and working conditions as comparable permanent employees after completing 12 continuous weeks in the same role. For employers, this means ensuring that accurate information is provided on pay rates, overtime, bonuses, working hours, and holiday entitlement so that parity can be applied correctly. AWR can have a direct impact on staffing costs and workforce planning, particularly in long-term assignments, and it is important that roles are benchmarked appropriately from the outset. We guide you through this and ensure compliance is managed correctly.

Temp to Perm is when you want to recruit a candidate on a temporary basis due to unknown business demands or like most businesses, to use as a probationary period before offering a Permanent Contract of Employment. This means that the agency will pay the worker during this period & you will be charged an hourly rate based on the number of hours worked per week. No extra costs, you only pay for the hours the agency worker is working for you.

As part of our service, we offer a 12-week free transfer period. Once an agency worker has completed 12 full weeks in the role, you can take them on permanently at no additional cost.

This gives you the opportunity to assess suitability, performance, and fit within your team before making a long-term decision. If you wish to take a worker on permanently before the 12-week period, a transfer fee may apply in line with our terms.
